After today’s Moral Monday outside Sen. Thom Tillis’ office in Raleigh, North Carolina, I joined Joy-Ann Reid on “The Joy Reid Show” to talk about Repairers of the Breach’s plans to escalate our moral demand for an end to Trump’s unjust and immoral war in the Middle East.
At Moral Mondays across the United States today, we announced plans for:
National prayer and pressure on Congress: 1,000 clergy across the United States will take up a national prayer against policy violence and lead their communities to demand that members of Congress stand for peace and end the war in Iran. This campaign will specifically target the 266 members of Congress who have refused to limit the President’s war powers through joint resolutions. Mass Moral Monday peace rallies on May 11: Faith communities and moral leaders will organize a series of peace rallies across the country as part of a mass Moral Monday on Monday, May 11, lifting up the demand to end the war and reorder federal priorities away from militarism and toward human needs.
Youth vows of nonviolence and Conscientious Objector declarations: Clergy and moral leaders will invite young people in their communities to join Moral Mondays and make a vow of nonviolence as part of a formal declaration of their Conscientious Objector (CO) status, refusing to participate in unholy war.
