Here on Our Moral Moment and at Moral Mondays In DC, we’ve been sharing the stories of people who would be directly impacted by the big, ugly bill before Congress. It’s a fusion coalition of people whose lives depend on Medicaid and people who will lose their local hospital if Medicaid gets slashed; teachers who know how much kids in their classes depend on SNAP and working families who rely on Medicaid for their aging parents in nursing homes; churches and communities that have been terrorized by masked ICE agents and can’t imagine how much worse things could get if Congress allocated the funds this bill proposes to hire 10,000 more agents.
It’s a lot. But it still feels distant to so many people.
